House Hetherspoon is a house of landed
knights sworn to Casterly Rock. The name and location of their keep is unknown.
Neither their arms nor their words appear
in the books, but according to semi-canon sources they blazon their shield as
an oak spoon within a white cartouche on orange and black lozengy.
History
Melara Hetherspoon was a companion to
Cersei Lannister. Together with Cersei and Jeyne Farman, she went to see Maggy
the Frog during the Lannisport Tourney in 276 AC, to get a glimpse of their
future, though Jeyne fled upon seeing the older woman. Melara asked whether she
would marry Cersei's twin Jaime, but instead was told of her imminent death.
She told Cersei that, if they didn't speak of the prophecies made by Maggy,
they would not come true. However, Melara later drowned in a well while Cersei
overheard her cries, making her prophecy come true.
